Army to use VA e-health system at Iraq hospital

The Army will use an open source version of Veterans Affairs electronic health records system. The software will be installed at a 50-bed hospital in Baghdad.

The Army will use an open source version of Veterans Affairs electronic health records system. The Joint Theater Support Contracting Command wants to install the software at a 50-bed hospital in Baghdad. NextGov reports, the move runs counter to resistance in the Defense Department to using the VA system. But the hospital in question is operated by the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. In its solicitation for a contractor to install the records system, the Army called for a free version called World-Vista. The winning bidder will place the software on servers and 50 computers at the hospital and in a nearby prosthetics. It will conduct training in Arabic.
