Billions of dollars in overseas contracting activity are being watched very closely by the Commission on Wartime Contracting. A hearing was held last week to find out what is and what isn't working with the DoD's plans to improve the federal acquisition workforce that oversees the contractors and what still needs to be done to account for the $130 billion supporting more than 200,000 contract employees in Iraq and Afghanistan. Former Congressman Chris Shays, co-chairman of the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan, asked people from DoD how their human-capital strategies would fix what he calls the chronic shortages of personnel, and how they're planning to improve contract management and oversight. Shays joins us with some of the answers.
