If you climb the stairs to the very crown of the Statue of Liberty -- and you can for the first time since 9/11 -- you might be impressed by the spiral staircase itself. The National Park Service described the contractor's work on the staircase as sleek, elegant and magnificent. That work was done by a company recently named the Small Business Administration's National Prime Contractor of the Year.
