Handicapping Metro’s chances for federal funds

A plan to improve safety and service reliability on the Metro system needs federal funding. WTOP Sprawl and Crawl reporter, Adam Tuss, follows the money.

It would be the first time ever that the federal government comes up with a dedicated source of funding for the Metro system, but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome before it can happen. Interim Metro General Manager Richard Sarles told a Senate subcommittee that he has a “back-to-basics” action plan to improve safety and service reliability on the Metro system, but that to succeed, federal funding is critical.
