Director of Innovation Programs, Red Hat Public Sector

Shawn Wells is the Director of Innovation Programs at Red Hat Public Sector, where he identifies and manages open source projects to stimulate innovation against U.S. Intelligence and Military challenges. Most recently, Shawn collaborated with the NRO and Lockheed Martin to create a cross domain IaaS environment. This environment, the DoD Centralized Super Computing Facility, securely joins over a dozen TS//SCI and SAP networks into a single infrastructure. Additionally, Shawn maintains Red Hat’s STIGs in collaboration with NSA IAD and DISA FSO, for both operating system and virtualization technologies. Formerly an NSA civilian, Shawn was the senior developer of the Al-Qaeda Senior Leadership SIGINT DB (AQSLDB), which ingested, exploited, and analyzed High Power Cell Phone (HPCP) collections under S3. Academic work includes Data Science at Harvard, technical strategy and innovation at MIT Sloan, nuclear energy at Stanford, and is a graduate from Carnegie Mellon’s CIO University.
