Universities awarded $800,000 grant for cyber research

Three universities will share an $800-thousand dollar grant from FEMA. The money will be used to help the U.S. better prepare for cyber attacks. The three-year grant was awarded to the University of Memphis Center for Information Assurance, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. According to the University of Texas, part of the award will be used to develop a new cyber training course and update five others on topics such as cyber awareness, incident response, disaster recovery and risk management. It will also be used to formally establish the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium. That group also includes the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service and the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes.
