Federal News Radio and Ackerman Security Systems Community Spotlight is the Komen Washington DC Race for the Cure.

Let’s celebrate the survivors and the progress made! Let’s Race for Impact and help Susan G. Komen for the Cure® continue to provide the D.C. community with breast cancer screenings, treatment, and support services, as well as innovative research to find a cure.

On Saturday, May 9, Mother’s Day Weekend, join the Komen Washington DC Race For The Cure on the National Mall. With fun-filled activities, a race just for kids and more, this event is one that the entire family can enjoy.

Komen has invested over $35 million in the National Capital Region alone and on any given day, more than 1,000 women receive a breast cancer screening made possible by a Susan G. Komen community grant. Since 1990, breast cancer mortality rates have dropped in the U.S. by 34 percent because of investments in early detection and effective treatments.

Let’s celebrate and help Komen continue to save lives!
