POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Contribute daily to make Federal News Radio the leading provider of timely and relevant news and information about the programs, people and policies of the federal government. Write and deliver news on-air in a clear, concise fashion on deadline and in an accurate and timely manner. Be conversant in all aspects of the federal government and federal contracting community. Enterprise news sources for original news content for air and on the website. Engage with Federal News Radio consumers through various social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook and bring new ideas to the table. Contribute to the understanding of how human resources, technology, financial management and acquisition policies affect federal managers and contractors.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum 5 years broadcast news anchoring in a major market.
  2. Experience covering the federal government.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in live radio situations and under deadline.
  4. Ability to develop and maintain news sources.
  5. Excellent writing skills under tight deadlines.
  6. Basic web knowledge, experience with html, Photoshop.
  7. Flexibility in work schedule.
  8. Willing to work in a smoke-free environment.
  9. Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  10. Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients.
  11. Project appropriate company image with respect to dress and demeanor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.
  2. Knowledge of Adobe Audition, ENPS and ENCO.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

  1. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  2. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no more than 40 db loss @500 Hz, 100Hz and 200Hz with or without correction.
  3. Repetitive motions: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  4. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including human body.
  5. Visual acuity requirements for machine operators of administrative standard.
  6. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: activities may occur inside and outside. During breaking news stories, the worker could be subject to extreme hot or extreme cold, or working in hazardous news situations.
