A new bill would require companies to notify consumers and the government when personal information is exposed in a cyber attack. The sponsor, Republican Representative Mary Bono Mack of California, is holding hearings on the bill this week. A hearing tomorrow will take in testimony from the Federal Trade Commission, Chamber of Commerce and several privacy groups. A similar bill passed the House last year but not the Senate.
