Clinton urges China to join in cybersecurity effort

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said both the United States and China are victims of increasingly frequent cyber attacks.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is hoping China will be a friend and not a foe on cybersecurity.

Speaking in Beijing, she said both the United States and China are victims of increasingly frequent cyber attacks.

She urged China to work with the U.S. to protect intellectual property, commercial data and national security information against the threat. Chinese officials signaled their willingness to cooperate.

But both U.S. officials and companies remain wary of China. They say it has engaged in cyber espionage campaigns against the United States.
