Federal agencies open, operating under normal conditions Thursday

Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C., area are open Thursday and operating under normal procedures, the Office of Personnel Management announced.

Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C., area are open Thursday and operating under normal procedures, the Office of Personnel Management announced.

The operating status comes after federal offices were shuttered for two days this week as superstorm Sandy ploughed through the East Coast. D.C. federal agencies reopened Wednesday with unscheduled leave and telework options available to employees.

In addition, federal agencies in the Baltimore area are open for business under normal procedures Thursday, according to the city’s Federal Executive Board.

Baltimore-area agencies include the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among others.

On its website, OPM said:

Employees are expected to report to their worksites or begin telework on time. Normal operating procedures are in effect.

Employees account for their hours of work by WATS:

Working at a worksite in the D.C. area,

Alternative work schedules (AWS) day off,

Teleworking, or

Scheduled leave or other paid time off.
