Van Dyck joins OMB to work on mobile, .gov reform efforts

An OMB official confirmed Van Dyck will work on the mobile strategy and the .gov reform effort. Van Dyck also will have agency responsibilities for technology policy and oversight.
Van Dyck follows Federal Chief information Officer Steven VanRoekel yet again. She worked with VanRoekel at the Federal Communications Commission where she was the director of citizen engagement and VanRoekel was the managing director.
VanRoekel went to the U.S. Agency for International Development and Van Dyck followed a few months later. She has been the director for digital strategy and engagement at USAID since June 2011.
At USAID, Van Dyck helped the agency use social media and new technologies to solve problems. She led the launch of an international communications campaign to raise awareness about famine in Africa.
At the FCC, Van Dyck worked on the agency's customer-service approach and a new user-friendly website.
Through these two positions, Van Dyck has been a leading voice for the use of social media in government. She told the Federal Drive in January 2011 that social media helps federal workers become more efficient in their jobs.
