NASA has awarded contracts to 118 small, disadvantaged companies under its Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP V) contract, a multi-award Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) vehicle focused on information technology products and product-based services.

The contract announcement for service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses (Group B) and other small businesses (Group C) arrived one week after NASA posted the winners from its two other categories — Group A and D. NASA scheduled the governmentwide acquisition contract to start in May 2015.

Of these SEWP V contracts, 14 went to companies operating in historically underutilized business zones, 25 contracts were awarded to business owned by service-disabled veterans and 79 contracts were awarded to other small businesses for server support devices and/or multi-functional devices.

The total value of the contract is $20 billion over five years.

SEWP V is a fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract that federal agencies can use to procure IT equipment and technology. That ranges from tablets and desktops to cloud services and video conferencing tools. The contract ceiling for this SEWP iteration is almost four times higher than SEWP IV, which had a total value of $5.6 billion.

NASA originally announced the winners of SEWP V back in September 2014, but had to delay implementation after the first protest in the program’s history. Because SEWP IV brought in record revenue, the program is dropping fees for agencies this month from 0.4 percent to 0.39 percent.
