NASA satellite surveillance assists disaster relief

Natural disasters often test the government's ability to coordinate the work of multiple agencies. NASA was able to help with satellite surveillance during at least two incidents this past year -- the Gulf oil well blowout and the Haiti earthquake.
Kristi King, reporter with Federal News Radio sister station WTOP, spoke with Jim Irons, project scientist for the LandStat satellite program at NASA.
