GSA names Sisk as deputy FAS Commissioner

Bill Sisk gets to remove the acting from his title as he takes on the deputy commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service on a permanent basis.

Bill Sisk is the new deputy commissioner at the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service.

Industry sources confirm that FAS Commissioner Tom Sharpe named Sisk to that role in a memo yesterday.

Sisk has been acting deputy commissioner of FAS since November 2012 when Jon Jordan retired.

“As you know, Bill has served as the acting deputy commissioner since last November and he has been an invaluable source of knowledge and good counsel during my first months as your commissioner,” Sharpe wrote in an email to staff announcing Sisk’s appointment. “Having started his career as a GSA intern, Bill has served as the Assistant Commissioner for the Office of General Supplies and Services (QS), the FAS Southeast Sunbelt Region Commissioner, and the Acting PBS Southeast Sunbelt Region Commissioner, giving him the diverse experience and customer understanding critical to helping FAS build on its past success.

Sharpe also said Marty Jennings would stay on as acting commissioner for the Office of General Supplies and Services.

In the past several months, several high-ranking positions at FAS have turned over starting with Tom Sharpe coming over from Treasury to be the FAS commissioner.

Sisk is a GSA veteran, having spent the last 20 years working in assorted roles. He started in the regional office in Atlanta in 1990 and became the regional administrator and regional commissioner.

He also served as the assistant commissioner in the Office of General Supplies and Services within FAS. President Barack Obama appointed Sisk to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, which is a unique program that provides employment opportunities for individuals who are blind or have other significant disabilities, in August 2011.
