FTC's move drew praise from several members of Congress concerned with online privacy. Broken Thumb Apps, owned by W-3 Innovations, collected information children sent to an online character known as "Emily," the FTC said, which it said is a violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

Several of W-3's games were listed in the kids section of Apple's App Store.
