The recent cyber attack false alarm at a water plant in Illinois may wind up doing some good — by keeping attention focused on the vulnerabilities of utility companies to cyber attacks.

The electric grid is one of the utilities that's received much of the attention. Jerry Grochow, a research affiliate at the MIT Energy Initiative and the former vice president for Information Services and Technology at MIT, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss how the federal government could reset its cyber priorities for the electric grid.

In a report, "The Future of the Electric Grid," Grochow and a colleague laid out a number of proposals to better secure the grid, including a single agency devoted to electric-grid cybersecurity.
