Clifford Stanley, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness says all of the services have met their overall numbers.

The highest recruiting goal was set by the Army, beating its original recruiting goal of 74,500 new soldiers by 77 new recruits. The Navy was just 40 recruits shy of meeting its goal of 34,180 new sailors.

All of the reserve components made their fiscal-year goals, with the exception of the Army National Guard. They intentionally missed their goal in order to stay within end-strength limits.

Stanley said records were also set regarding the quality of recruits. All new Army and Marine Corps recruits have a high school diploma.
