Involuntary force reduction coming to Air Force

Officers from junior grade to colonels face the prospect of being shown the door if they are not recommended for promotion to the next level. The Air Force says retention is at the highest level in 16 years.
A voluntary force reduction took place last year. But General Norton Schwartz, the chief of staff, says the Air Force still has a couple of thousand more officers than it needs.
