The military is in the market for a new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and a long range bomber, Reuters reports.

Air Force Secretary Michael Donley says getting this equipment is a must if the U.S. is to stay above the rest.

The Pentagon plans on buying more than 2,000 F-35s over the next two and a half decades.

The price tag on that purchase is $385 billion.

DoD must cut 350 billion in spending over the next 10 years.
