The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is making the move to Google Apps. The agency announced that it has selected Google for its email and collaboration systems, and is the largest federal agency to make the move.

NOAA will use the full suite of Google Apps including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Sites.

The switch will also include a move to Google’s cloud services, which was included in NOAA’s RFP as part of the administration’s Cloud First initiative.

NOAA’s 25,000 employees will transition to Google’s systems by the end of this year.
