As cyber threats get more and more serious, cybersecurity gets more complicated. The proliferation of mobile devices on networks all over the government is just one reason.

President Obama’s choice to lead Federal cybersecurity efforts is Howard Schmidt. He has a long and distinguished record in that area, including high-profile assignments both in and out of government. Mr. Schmidt’s first week in the role of Cybersecurity Coordinator was last week.

In his first public comments since starting his new position, Mr. Schmidt talked about the explosion – and inevitability – of mobile devices on networks, and the impact those portable devices will have on keeping information secure.
