Most government agency customers are citizens looking for information on services or other government functions. But there is one agency whose constituency is almost exclusively other government agencies. The Office of Government Ethics provides guidance for Federal employees who need information about what is OK – and not so OK – for them to do in their jobs.

Although the OGE has a different mission than most agencies, they have the same goals – saving money, saving energy, and using technology to make their jobs easier. One way the agency is hitting their goals is through installation of a thin client environment.

The CIO at the OGE, Ty Cooper, walked me through the process of deciding to pursue the thin client project, the timeline to get it going, and the issues he dealt with, in the first of a two-part interview.
