The Flyzik Group
Jim Flyzik is the President of TheFlyzikGroup www.theflyzikgroup.com . The company specializes in Strategic Business Consulting, Performance Based Contracting Consulting and Training and Thought Leadership media events. The company assists small, medium and large companies in providing world-class government services. Jim also serves as the Chairman of the Information Technology Association of America Committee on Homeland Security. Jim also hosts the monthly radio program, The Federal Executive Forum on WFED 1500 AM and www.federalnewsradio.com .
Jim served over 27 years in the federal government. He served as Senior Advisor to Governor Ridge in the White House Office of Homeland Security (OHS). He provided advice to OHS on the National Strategy and Information Management in support of the OHS mission. From February 1998 until December 2002, Jim also served as the Vice Chair of the Federal Government CIO Council overseeing numerous government wide IT initiatives. He was also a member of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board.
Prior to this, from August 1997 until April 2002, Jim was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Systems and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of the Treasury. He provided oversight, strategic planning and management direction on over $3.0 billion in annual information technology and information infrastructure programs within Treasury and its fourteen Bureaus. Jim also served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Management for the Treasury Department from January 20, 2001 until February 8, 2002. In that role he provided oversight of all Treasury bureaus and served as the principal policy advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on matters involving the internal management of the Department and its bureaus. Jim received the Secretary Certificate of Appreciation on February 12, 2002 for his efforts during this transition period.
Prior to his Treasury positions, Jim worked for 15 years at the U.S. Secret Service where he held key IT management positions, including the Chief of the Communications Division, providing world class telecommunications in support of Secret Service tactical and operational requirements.
Jim served as Team Leader on Vice President Gore's National Performance Review (NPR) Information Technology Team. Following this assignment, he was selected as Chairman of the Government Information Technology Services Working Group, to implement the NPR Information Technology recommendations and coordinate the government services portion of the National Information Infrastructure (NII). He was given the prestigious Eagle Award as the government information technology executive of the year in 1994, a Meritorious Presidential Rank Award in 1995, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Award for Excellence in Information Technology in 1996, the AFFIRM Award for Outstanding Service to the Citizens in 1997, the Industry Advisory Council Award for Special Achievements and Leadership in 1997, the AFFIRM IRM Executive of the Year Award in 1998, and the Distinguished Rank Executive Award from President Clinton in 1999. In 2001 the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils presented him the John J. Franke award for outstanding government service. In March 2002, Jim was selected by the Federal CIO Council to receive the Azimuth Award as the Government Executive of the Year.
Jim has extensive public speaking experience and frequently serves as a featured speaker at industry events. He has developed, and currently teaches part-time, a graduate level course on Information Systems Security and Risk Assessment at the University of Maryland. Jim was given the Stanley J. Drazek Excellence in Teaching Award in 1998 by the University of Maryland.
Jim has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Computer Science and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Maryland with an area of concentration in Information Systems Management.
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Hunt currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer for the Chief Information Officer in CIA. In this capacity he is responsible for setting the strategic technology direction to enable CIA's missions, actively engage across the IC to share and communicate IT solutions, and drive solutions for the rapid insertion and adoption of new capabilities to keep pace with technology change in the commercial sector
Previously, Mr. Hunt served as the Director of Applications Services for CIA. In this role, he was responsible for building IT systems to support and enable CIA's mission to effectively conduct their business and to set the vision and direction for applications development in CIA. He drove the investment and development process to build core and common services, build the enterprise data layer, brought in training and coaching to drive that rapid adoption and effective use of Agile Development within Applications Services, and implemented earned-value-management and total-cost-of-ownership business processes to dramatically improve management decision effectiveness.
Prior to that, Mr. Hunt served as Director of Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE). In this capacity he was responsible for establishing the Agency's Information Services (IS) strategic direction. This includes, developing and implementing the Information Services Enterprise Architecture, building the integrated CIA Information Services strategic investments portfolio, and establishing the CIA-wide Information Services strategic plan. He also chaired the CIA Architecture Review Board and the Architecture and Systems Engineers Occupational Panel. He came from the DI as the Chief of the CIO's Advanced Technology Group and served as Chief Technology Officer for the Office of Support Services.
In addition to his roles in Information Services, Mr. Hunt also served as Chief of Research and Development for the DCI's Crime and Narcotics Center and Deputy Chief of the Operations Support Group in the DCI's Non-Proliferation Center. He began his career in 1985, as a DI analyst in the Technology Transfer Assessment Center and was a branch chief in Space Systems Division in the DI.
Before coming to the Agency, Mr. Hunt spent 7 years in the private sector as an Aerospace Engineer designing advanced manned space flight systems and satellite orbital transfer vehicles. He holds a ME in Civil/Structural Engineering from Vanderbilt University and is married with 2 grown children.
Chief Technology Officer
Douglas W. Roseboro is the Director, Office of IT Research and Development / Chief Technology Officer in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
In this position, he is providing leadership to the Agency in the areas of enterprise IT research and development, information security, and technology insertion. Also, he is responsible for the implementation of the Agency Enterprise Architecture (EA), Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) Enterprise Transition and other special projects.
Before joining the FAA, Roseboro held positions at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Program Office as the Requirements, Architecture and Development (RAD) Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead and the Naval Surface Warfare as the Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Program Manager. Roseboro held positions in commercial industry with major defense contractors in software engineering, systems engineering and test engineering.
Roseboro holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Loyola University.
VP & General Manager
Enterprise Data Integration
"Ashutosh Kulkarni is VP & General Manager of the Enterprise Data Integration Business Unit at Informatica. He is responsible for R&D and go-to-market for Informatica's core data integration products including PowerCenter, PowerExchange, Metadata Manager and Data Services. He is also leading Informatica's efforts in the area of Big Data Processing, including its efforts around Hadoop.
In his 6 year tenure at Informatica, Ashutosh has held leadership roles in product management and product marketing. He led Informatica's efforts in the areas of operational data integration and data services, and was also involved in the early days of Informatica's entry into Integration on demand (cloud computing). Prior to Informatica, Ash spent many years at Sun Microsystems in various R&D, product management and product marketing roles."
VP & General Manager
William Hartwell leads the Federal Markets Division at Riverbed Technology and is responsible for driving the Company's products and services for WAN Optimization and Application Acceleration into Federal Civilian Agencies, the Department of Defense, and the Intelligence Community. Prior to joining Riverbed, Hartwell was Vice President of Business and Channel Development of government markets at Motorola, where he developed teams to drive enterprise mobility solutions into the public sector markets. In addition, he was Vice President of the Federal Government area at Symbol Technologies prior to its acquisition by Motorola. Hartwell also spent eight years at Cisco Systems, where he developed senior sales, systems engineering, channels, and business development teams with extensive customer and industry knowledge across the Federal Markets.
