Open data, IT security, the cloud, and more

CTOvision.com publisher Bob Gourley joins host John Gilroy to discuss a number of technology challenges affecting the federal tech community. January 20, 2015

January 20, 2015 — It’s always good to start off the year with a handful of predictions from a well-known pundit.

To this end, we invited Bob Gourley, co-founder of the Cyber Security Consultancy, Cognitio, and publisher of CTOvision.com.

Gourley has been a well-known part of the federal tech community for many years, and shares his insights with his popular CTOvision site as well as his many speaking appearances.

During the interview, he weighed in on the most popular topics from the perspective of a federal information professional.

The discussion bounced around open data, data security, the cloud, and events in town where interested parties could learn more.

For example, results for the most popular 2014 shows on “Federal Tech Talk” were revealed. To nobody’s surprise, the number one rated show had a focus on the cloud, specifically Hadoop and big data.

Gourley casually mentioned that he was sponsoring an event where Edie Garcia from Cloudera was speaking on precisely that topic.

Gourley has years of experience working for the federal government and then assisting with the intelligence community on taking advantage of technology challenges like big data and security.

Listen for the range of topics and the specifics of learning more.
