September 9, 2014 — Today’s interview is dedicated to federal information professionals who are cast in the role of being a business analyst.

This skill set covers many areas including IT, business process automation, business intelligence, and predictive analytics.

If you think you are out on an island, there’s hope.

The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is an international organization that has a chapter here in Washington, D.C.

Rebecca Halstead is a principal consultant at Excella as well as the president of the local IIBA chapter.

David Pradko is an analyst at iWorks Corporation, as well as serving as the vice president of Finance for the IIBA.

During the interview they will highlight many aspects of managing complex information technology systems.

The IIBA is dedicated to helping professionals who are thrown into the ring of what many call “project management.”

A business analyst is placed in situations much more similar to portfolio management – they have to understand the systems implications of a software change, as well as having a deep understanding of how a complex system can help an agency reach its goals.

If you would like to have more information, you may want to attend the first IIBA Conference on October 10, 2014 in Arlington, Va.
