Does your department or agency have a mobile strategy or policy?

EPA launched its Mobile First Strategy March 2012. EPA is considering the use of mobile technology (smart phones and tablet devices) across the broad spectrum of the decisions that are made, which include:

  • Purchasing video teleconferencing equipment and asking if it will interface with mobile devices;
  • Ensuring that a new application is developed smartly for both the Web and mobile devices; and
  • Considering whether new records management tools work equally smoothly on desktop computers and mobile devices.

Bring-Your-Own-Device?

EPA is in the preliminary stages of incorporating a bring-your-own-device to the agency. It is our vision that through our new email and collaboration tool suite employees eventually will be able to utilize their personal devices for agency applications. At this time, we have conducted some preliminary pilots, including a tablet pilot around bring your own device.
