For most federal employees, carrying around an agency-approved mobile device is no longer a luxury — it’s the norm. That’s the theme of a new report examining mobility at federal agencies from CDW-G.

Bob Kirby, the vice president of federal government for CDW-G, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss the report’s findings.

Some key statistics from the report:

  • 99 percent of federal IT professionals deploy mobile devices to agency employees.
  • 62 percent of federal agencies allow employees to use their own mobile devices at work also known as bring-your-own-device, or BYOD.
  • 44 percent of federal employees who use mobile devices provide their own.
