"It's going to be a web app that provides quick and easy access to information on members of Congress," said Ric Davis, GPO's chief technology officer. "The really neat thing about it is that you'll be able to use it on a variety of mobile devices, whether you have an iPad, an iPhone, an Android or a Blackberry device."
Davis spoke to Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Amy Morris on Tuesday, about GPO's overall strategy to grow its digital operations.
As part of its modernizations, the agency has also stopped updating GPOAccess The service is not being cancelled, it is in archive only format now and will be shutdown in 2012. The plan from the beginning is that the Federal Digital System, or FDsys, will replace GPOAccess and that phase is under way now. GPOAccess has been active while collections were being merged over to Fdsys.
