May 29, 2012 -- This week on Federal Tech Talk, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park joins host John Gilroy to talk about Datapalooza and dozens of federal initiatives.

In 2010 the Department of Health and Human Services generated a conference called the Community Health Data Initiative. It had fifty participants.

In 2011, Park renamed it the Healthcare Dataplooza and doubled participants. In June of 2012, the Healthcare Datapalooza had over 200 applicants and had a hard time fitting into the Washington D.C. Convention Center.

On today's show, Parks discusses the evolution of Datapalooza, and the Presidential Innovation Fellows.

This project is comprised of five aspects: MyGov, Open Data Initiatives, Blue Button, RFP EZ, and the 20% Campaign.

Each one of these programs is an attempt to engage the private sector to solve federal healthcare IT problems.
