The National Institutes of Health is linking health care providers with the world’s largest medical library for free. MedlinePlus Connect is designed to help medical professionals and patients make better decisions about their health and could even help with the government’s push for electronic medical records.

“Patients using portals or EHRs that have implemented MedlinePlus Connect can access easy-to-understand health information on MedlinePlus that is directly related to their diagnoses, medications, and lab tests,” according to HHS in a press release.

Stephanie Dennis, project manager for MedlinePlus Connect at the National Library of Medicine, spoke with Federal News Radio about the program and its goals.
