Treasury moves to cloud, starts blog

The Treasury Department is moving to the cloud and starting an official blog.

The Department of the Treasury has taken several steps towards greater transparency. It’s now the first Cabinet-level agency to be hosted in a public “cloud.” The department also started an official blog and is using data visualization, according to a Treasury statement.

In the welcome note on the blog, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said the blog — called Treasury Notes — will be a place for senior officials and staff to post news, announcements and other information about the department.

Treasury has also set up accounts for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr and YouTube, and added an Open Government forum.
