The Senate’s comprehensive cybersecurity bill sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Collins (D-Maine) is facing opposition from some Republicans because of the way it would protect critical infrastructure. But Senate leaders are trying to get a full vote as soon as possible.

Brendan Sasso, a staff writer covering technology for the Hill newspaper, said Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz) and Kay Bailey Huchison (R-Texas) are criticizing the comprehensive bill for putting too much emphasis on regulations rather than promoting information sharing.

Sasso spoke with The Federal Drive with Tom Temin about the progress of cyber legislation in the Senate following a Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing Tuesday.
