Three cyber bills clear Senate Judiciary Committee

Friday - 9/23/2011, 6:38pm EDT

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved three cybersecurity bills.

The bills cover national standards for security breaches involving personal data. Companies would have to take reasonable steps to secure customers' personal information, and to tell customers if there's been a breach.

NextGov reports the votes followed party lines, making it harder to pass them when they get to the full Senate for a vote.
