When asked about the push to drive innovation with the adoption of the cloud across the intelligence community, Glover-Jones said that it is “vitally important and critical to the success of [our] mission. The technology there is going to provide a platform to be able to enhance analytical discovery and the security of our data.”

Glover-Jones also discussed the budget reductions currently affecting her agency.

“This is the budget situation,” she said. “We’re not going to get an increase in funding and it’s possible that we could lose even more funding, so the challenge before us today is to actually look at what is it that we can do differently … that can yield a different outcome.”

“Every decision that you make is a business decision. There is a cost associated with it. And so if we understand IT like running a business, we’ll be better served,” Glover-Jones told Women of Washington hosts Aileen Black and Gigi Schumm. “Before we make a technological decision, there should be a business model to go along with it.”

Glover-Jones also gave advice to Millennials just getting their start in public service. “Be persistent,” she said. “Do not give up so quickly. If this is what you want to do, help us to understand what you are bringing to the table.”

Also in this interview, Glover-Jones talks about how her childhood spent on a farm in South Carolina affected her success. She also shares stories from mentors that have helped her throughout the years.
