Agencies with vacancies are under presidential orders to find the best people with diverse backgrounds — veterans, people with disabilities and students The trick is, though, finding out about the jobs in the first place.

“The government does need new and well-qualified folks,” said John Palguta, vice president for policy at the Partnership for Public Service. “Last fiscal year, over 108,000 full-time, permanent employees left government, 107,000 were hired and, of course, we know retirements are up, so even in these tight budget times, government needs to replace the people who are leaving.”

Palguta told The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Emily Kopp about what the hot hiring areas are and how agencies are trying to connect the right people with the right opportunities.
