As buyouts and retirements ratchet up, the Partnership for Public Service estimates that 108,000 federal employees out of more than 2 million will leave this year. Tim McManus, the Vice President of education and outreach at the partnership, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss what federal managers can do to fill in the blanks.
If the partnership's estimate holds true, attrition in 2012 will be higher than in any of the past three fiscal years.
McManus discussed what agencies he expects to take the biggest hits in retirements this year, as well as what agencies can do to make workforce adjustments when they can't hire.
