For Your Benefit
April 30, 2012 -- This week on For Your Benefit estate planning specialist Marc Levine joins hosts Bob Leins and John Elliott to discuss estate planning for families with minor children and/or grandchildren.
Levine focuses on the documents that should be prepared for your family's well-being and how to establish trusts for their financial needs if you are unable to administer the affairs.
Topics include:
- creating a thoughtful and flexible trust;
- who the guardian should be, who the trustee should be, and should they ever be the same person;
- insuring the proper funding of trusts through the titling of assets and the proper use of beneficiary designations;
- provisions for children in powers of attorney;
- providing provisions for stand by guardians or temporary POA for children.
Levine is a principal of Handler-Levine. He can be reached at marc@handlerlevine.com or by phone at 301-961-6464, ext. 3313.
