A slew of recommendations has poured in from all quarters, including the White House and nearly every Congressional committee.

Those proposals include changes to federal employee benefits and healthcare. And speculation has also swirled that the committee is struggling to find consensus in its mission to cut as much as $1.5 trillion from the federal deficit over 10 years. If no compromise can be found, across-the-board cuts (half from civilian agencies and half from the Defense Department) will be enacted.
