Federal employees may face furloughs and who-knows-what-else under the across-the-board budget cuts scheduled for March. A ruling in a 2012 Supreme Court case could come back to bite federal agencies facing budget cuts under sequestration. The court held that an agency is liable to a contractor for the entire amount of a contract, as long has it has sufficient appropriations to pay. And just yesterday, government auditors slammed the FCC for security flaws in its new, supposedly more secure, computer networks. Taken together, the cases underscore some fears that agencies are not equipped to ward off sophisticated online assaults.
