As the federal government struggles with how to make better use of data, it could learn a thing or two from the states. A case in point is Indiana. It’s harnessing data to solve problems and improve how it does business. In one example, Indiana has had one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country for more than two decades. Officials have identified causes and directed funds to programs that target at-risk mothers.
