DoD and Intelligence community work together on new IT structures

The DoD and Intelligence community are starting to work together as they build similar paths to new enterprise information technology structures. The Pentagon’s Joint Information Environment and the IC’s Information Technology Enterprise are two separate attempts to consolidate their IT infrastructures and run them at a lower cost. But they’re similar enough so the two groups don’t have to reinvent the wheel if one is already working on a system that works for both. One plan they’re already trying is to extend the IC’s IT services so they can work on lower-level secret or unclassified DoD networks. The IC is working with the Defense Information Systems Agency to build a secret and unclassified cloud environment to offer those enterprise-class IT services.
