Security review of healthcare.gov underway

Tuesday - 5/20/2014, 5:56pm EDT

The House Committee on Space, Science and Technology is asking for a top-to-bottom security review of the HealthCare.gov website. Committee chairman Lamar Smith is asking the Government Accountability Office to do the review. GAO is already checking the security of the site's architecture, doing vulnerability tests, and looking at the site's incident detection capabilities. Smith is asking GAO to also do penetration testing, source code and supply chain analysis, and verify secure code practices during the software development cycle. Smith also wants to know how involved the Executive Office of the President was in the site's development and roll-out. The report is due by September 1st.
