Rising stars in the cybersecurity field came together at the University of Massachusetts Boston recently to hone their skills.

About 60 students and professionals were invited to compete in the Cyber Aces state championship after performing well on courses offered by the organization.

Participants competed in a simulation program called NetWars, which is used by the military to test and train some of its cyber talent. The winners won scholarships and opportunities for more training, according to the Boston Globe.

Governor Deval Patrick said the Cyber Aces program is part of the state's effort to recruit the best cyber professionals.

Cyber Aces runs competitions in other states as well, including Virginia and Delaware. The organization is hosting a virtual career fair June 18th and 19th.
