The head of U.S. Cyber Command is once again pushing Congress to pass legislation that will help protect the country against cyber attacks. General Keith Alexander told the Senate Armed Services Committee that it’s just a matter of time before the next cyber attack. And, he says, the U.S. isn’t ready for it. As cyberspace continues to change at a rapid pace, U.S. policies and laws lag behind, according to Alexander. Congress has failed to pass multiple pieces of cyber legislation over the last few years. During the hearing, Senator John McCain suggested setting up a select committee to help push a bill through Congress. Just last month, the White House released a voluntary cyber framework to help critical infrastructure providers deal with potential threats.
