Blue Button healthcare technologies are primed to explode in the private sector. Large pharmaceutical companies like Walgreens, CVS and other pharmicies in the National Association of Chain Drug Stores are planning to standardize their prescription data based on Blue Button policies. The technology was born at the Department of Veterans Affairs and have the reputation as an easy-to-use, easy-to- access healthcare facilitator. Blue Button and Blue Button Plus essentially serve as an online service to share and manage patient records and prescriptions. Right now the private sector plans to introduce their version next year. Healthcare IT News reports Walgreens is already offering online access to health data under the Blue Button brand.
