Did the IRS violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act?

The identity of a healthcare executive suing the IRS for stealing private medical records is public. Blaine Pollock is founder of the California-based Three Rivers Provider Network. He sued the IRS after it used search warrants to access financial records of his companies. He was under a criminal investigation for funneling millions of company funds into personal bank accounts to buy houses and yachts. One of the computer servers held private medical records of 10 million people. U.S. attorneys appointed a filter attorney to keep the medical records separate from the financial evidence. Healthcare IT News reports Pollocks lawsuit that the IRS violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act didn’t hold up, he’s pleading not guilty to the criminal charges.
