Two new faces are joining the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. IBM earned FedRAMP approval for its SmartCloud for Government service, the General Services Administration says it’s a multi-tenant Infrastructure as a Service cloud computing system. The SmartCloud service earned the approval from Veris Group, one of FedRAMP’s third party assessment organizations. Microsoft’s Global Foundation Services and Windows Azure service also earned a provisional authority to operate from the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board. The GSA says Microsoft won the authority to operate after working with the FedRAMP program management office and Secure Info, another third party assessment organization. The GSA says the authorization relied on FedRAMP baseline controls and FedRAMP templates.
