Sens. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Jim Webb (D-Va.) are introducing legislation today to overhaul the government's planning, management and oversight of wartime-support contracting. The Comprehensive Contingency Contracting Reform Act of 2012 will attempt to fix many of the problems discovered by the Wartime Contracting Commission. It reported in August agencies wasted more than $60 billion dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan due to poor procurement oversight.

The legislation focuses on four main areas, including reforming contracting practices during overseas military operations, instituting contractor accountability and requiring greater transparency, competition, and workforce education.
