For more than a decade and a half, the Blackberry has been the ubiquitous belt or purse accessory for the armies of bureaucrats and contractors swarming around Washington and anywhere the federal government has a big presence. A secure Blackberry was one of President-elect Barack Obama’s first requests.

But the company has fallen on hard times, and its future is uncertain. Bloomberg Government financial analyst Afzal Bari explains what this means for the federal mobility market.

Huntington Ingalls, a major shipbuilder, is breaking ground on a new campus for future employees in Newport News, Va. The century-old Apprentice School trains students to build and repair parts for the Navy’s aircraft carriers, submarines and other vessels. Everett Jordan is the director of education for the Apprentice School.

In light of the systemic technology and procurement management problems of HealthCare.gov, a vocal group of former and current federal officials is calling for a return to the Raines Rules.

Paul Brubaker is director of planning and performance management for the Defense Department’s deputy chief management officer.
